We are getting there! AND - I found out that I do NOT have to sew on buttons - they have little clips that go on the back that hold them in place, which makes much more sense. I don't know why I didn't notice it earlier. But as it is, this project will probably wait until I am back in town after CT because I am getting released tomorrow from my calling with the Young Women, and I will not (as previously thought) be spending 5 days at Girls Camp as soon as I get back. That is bittersweet.

P.S.

I also found out the prices of the Hillcrest's uniforms that have been sitting in the closet for I don't know how many years...

Shako                  $  50.11
Shako case        $  14.81
Plume                  $  18.74
Coat                     $  173.09
Overlay               $  147.74
Trousers             $  128.99
Sh. nest               $  57.33

Bringing the total for ONE uniform to just under $600.00. I knew they were expensive, but I had no idea!
For some of these kids, this will be the most expensive clothing they ever wear!!

I think I can...

I am SOOO close to the end of the year!!!

By the end of the year (May 25th), I have to:

  1. Direct a band concert
  2. Direct a children's choir concert
  3. Pick up my new euphonium from the music store
  4. Pick up my instruments from the repairman.
  5. Spend $225 on new drumheads/classroom supplies.
  6. Get my uniforms back from the cleaner
  7. Order buttons for the uniforms
  8. Sew buttons on to the uniforms
  9. Order garment bags for uniforms
  10. Hold drum major auditions
  11. Choose a new band presidency
  12. Collect tuxes
  13. Fit students into uniforms
  14. Get a cadence ready to play for the parade
  15. Play at graduation
  16. Clean up my office and classroom
  17. Check in all rented instruments
  18. Pass out music and schedule for 4th of July
  19. Pass out music and schedule for Fall 2012 Pep Band
Is that everything? Probably not.
And that's just work-related stuff!
*sigh*

If I can make it to the end of the year and get everything done that needs to be done, it will be nothing short of a miracle!

Wildlife

Soon (hopefully) I will be updating about our trip to Yellowstone last weekend. We used the park pass mom gave Chad for his birthday last summer. We saw lots of elk, a grizzly bear, and a wolf. Videos to come!!

Then last night when we were driving home from Boise, a coyote ran across the highway in front of us. Luckily we didn't hit it, but we did get a good look at it. I don't know that I've ever seen a coyote. (Pronounced "k-eye-oat" by the born and bred Idahoans)

Here are some other pictures to tide you over. (?)

Christian after his performance as the lead in The Foreigner at The Romance Theater in Rexburg, Idaho. April 28th 2012.

Charlie in Yellowstone. He pooped all over his clothes.

We got this little "Snuggle Nest" from our friends. It is designed to fit on the bed to give baby a safe place to sleep if he is sharing your bed. We thought we would give it a go since Charlie ends up taking over our bed and snuggling as close as is physically possible. He found a way to resume close proximity snuggling with Daddy.
More to come shortly. I have to say, I am a fan of Blogger's new posting format - it is quite convenient, and I think it will translate well to a published book when I get the next installment of my blog published with Blog2Print. (The first one came in the mail this week - it looks awesome!)
