Neighbors

So....

The same neighbors (who rent out their property to the lady who let her dog crap all over our yard) also have a huge driveway (it's completely paved between their two houses) that they plow. Into our yard. It is illegal to plow across a street but they do it every time it snows - and leave us a giant snow pile that doesn't melt until July. And last year they plowed our back "driveway" which left a pile of yard in the middle of the lawn that also got plowed. We think they think that if they plow our "driveway" (which we don't use) it makes it okay for them to plow all of their snow into our yard. Well this year the van is parked in the back because it is out of commission. So they plowed their snow halfway across our yard!! It is pretty much in line with our house. (There's at least 40' from our house to the street.) We are kind of appalled. So - what do we do?!

In other news - it is a snow day, which means I get to stay home and play with Charlie all day!!!!

AND. This is my 300th post.

If it's illegal, then I guess you get to be the kind of people that file a police report every time it happens. If you're lucky you can do it online.

You could try putting up a little fence but they might just plow it over. The adult thing to do would be to go ask them not to do it but that doesn't always work and then things are even more awkward. Did they ever respond to the problem with the dog?

agree with mom-- a fence! even if it's ghetto wood stakes and chicken wire!

Yes, didn't someone say something about good fences making good neighbors? ;o)

Also - we could put up a fence (we really want to!), but
a) it has to be off of city property (45' from the middle of the road)
b) they would probably knock it over anyway
c) we have no money

Install a spike strip on your property line.

The poet is Robert Frost but I believe that although his line about good fences making good neighbors is often quoted, his message was the opposite. I, however, think that good fences really do make good neighbors (or at least better ones).
