Child Safety Day & Boise State Football!

My neighbor told me about "Child Safety Day" that is apparently a national thing - the local event in Jerome is held at a car dealership. They check your car seats to make sure they're installed correctly, have bike races, have fire trucks and buses for the kids to climb on, and free food! I took the boys by myself since Chad was working. It was really fun and a good way to let Charlie run off some energy before nap time.

Sitting in the fire truck.

On the school bus!

That night, we decided to go to Boise (about an hour) to see the Broncos play their season opener. I don't know what possessed me to think that was a good idea with two young children, but that's what we did. Probably never again. We had to drive around Boise (we had no idea where we were going) and then find a place to park that was forever away from the stadium. Then it was so LOUD in the stadium. I felt bad for my babies! And the atmosphere at any other college football game is hugely different from the atmosphere at a BYU football game at Edwards Stadium, just fyi. I really don't know what I was thinking. We went to go see a former student of mine who was marching with Boise State on a music scholarship. I was so proud of him!! He's one of the many sousaphones out there. They were renaming the stadium since Albertson's decided to sponsor it, so there were $5 Albertson's gift cards under every seat. I collected about 8 of them from empty seats near us. Score! We left at halftime and still got home around midnight.

Charlie had fun for a bit but then was overwhelmed (and tired) and wanted to play on Chad's phone.
