President's Day

This last weekend, Chad and I finally had a whole day off together. (Besides Sunday) I wanted to do something fun, so we climbed in the car and made the drive to Lava Hot Springs. We had never been there, and it sounded like just what we needed in the middle of a long, cold, and depressing winter.

We were not disappointed! The Kiddie Cove was small, but enough for Charlie. It was crowded, but not too crowded, and the water was nice and warm. The prices were reasonable, and we had a great time. We didn't make it out to the actual hot pools because we weren't sure I was allowed to go in them, and we didn't know if Charlie would think they were too hot. There was, of course, the unavoidable abundance of uncovered skin, but such is the price you pay.

Their holiday hours were from noon to 5:00, so we ended up going right during Charlie's nap time.
He was asleep by the time we pulled into the parking lot.

Getting changed! Charlie was really excited about his "Nemo" swim diaper.

Since we had to wake him up from his nap, Charlie was a little tentative. It took him a bit to warm up.

Drinking the water. Underwater shot.

On the way home, we stopped for a Valentine's dinner/lunch at Applebee's in Pocatello. Charlie was really excited for his "burger". The waitress brought our food, and never brought his kids meal. When we asked about it, she said it was on its way. She brought out mac and cheese and french fries. We told her he was supposed to have a cheeseburger and an applesauce. She finally brought a cheeseburger, but by that point, he had eaten enough other food to not want it. But, she didn't charge us for the kids meal, so I guess it was okay. Here we are killing time.

Valentine's Day

This year Valentine's Day was on a Friday. I had to be at a basketball game that night and Chad had to work. But I did get some pretty flowers. These pictures were taken about 5 days later, so they aren't the best. The pink ones are from Erin and the roses are from Chad.

This flower was pretty because the inside petals came in a different color.

Charlie Gets a Haircut

Charlie has always had lots of hair. We have never had good luck with cutting it. He screams and cries pretty much nonstop and continues doing so long after the haircut is over. We got some new clippers for Christmas once we discovered that the old ones were catching and pulling - that probably didn't help. And with a little help from the new iPad, Charlie had the best haircut he's ever gotten!

This is what Charlie does when he sees the hair clippers.
